My kids were unbelievably naughty today. Well, not unbelievably. But. Naughty. I really try to savor these moments. I really, really try.
"Big kids, big problems."
"Savor these moments...time goes so quickly."
"They're only little once."
I get it. I do. I try.
Sometimes...I fail. Sometimes...I lose it. Sometimes...I hide.
Most times...I feel guilty. About...EVERYTHING. :/
I miss them terribly when they're at school and I'm at work. I imagine my wonderful entrance after a long day where they rush to me and hug me to the tune of, "Mommy! How was your day!?" An imagination is a good thing to have.
So, I'm using my imagination right now... 1 hour before the official start of Mother's Day. Tomorrow, I get to sleep in until I wake up on my own. Whatever hour that might be. I'll come down to a fresh cup of coffee. I'll sit down on the couch and do nothing for awhile until I decide to get up and make breakfast. I want to make breakfast...I like to. The family will eat nicely...and together. Then go off and play nicely, together while I get out one of my projects that *I* want to work on. That'll last the rest of the day til dinnertime when I'll cook again. I like to.
Seems simple enough, right?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not unappreciative of my family, of my kids. Trust me...after this January's scare with Jameson, I'm hyperaware of how lucky I am. I know there are mothers out there who ache for what I have. I know there are women out there who ache to be mothers. I know. This is not about being unappreciative. I promise.
So. Happy Mother's Day to all...to the single dads, to those trying to conceive, to those with 21 kids, to those with four-legged children, to those missing their moms, to you all.
Loves...
