family
we had family photos taken last week friday (on natalia's birthday, no less). they turned out really, really great. i love them. trisha faber - see here: http://www.faberphotography.wordpress.com/ - took them. she did a phenomenal job. especially considering jameson was exceptionally difficult and would.not.cooperate. looking at these, you can't tell. :)
here are a few. be thankful i didn't post all 224. i wanted to!

meds
we took jameson to his follow up appointment with his neurologist on september 26th. (yes, i know that was almost 3 weeks ago.) because it's been 2 years and he's been seizure free and because his recent EEG came back clean, she said it was ok for us to begin to wean him from his medication.
this is both wonderful and terrifying at the same time. i'll be so relieved if he can go through the rest of his life without medication - and the troubles/trials that go along with having seizures. at the same time, i'm terrified that we'll see a seizure. even if they're the very non-violent ones he had before, it's still sickening to think that we might see that again. scary. and, of course, "dr. sprinkles" tells us that the seizures, should they resurface, may not be the same kind (myoclonic) that he suffered before. if he has one, it COULD be a grand mal. it could be a bad one. that scares the beejeebers out of me. we have emergency medicine should it happen, but still.
so, on 9-26, we began the weaning. he was taking 5 tablets per day - 2 in the morning, 3 at night. he's already down to 1 in the morning, 1 at night. so far, so good. but, i'm holding my breath.
and, it seems that we're having another sort of side effect. one of the side effects of the drug he is/was on is that it made him tired. we didn't really know HOW tired until we started weaning. he is becoming a very energetic, strong-willed, dare-i-say naughty little boy. gah. it might just be circumstance and this might just be a phase he'd have hit anyway. but, quite the coincidence anyway.
and, so. as of this friday, the 17th, we'll have one more week to go before he's off all dosing. wish us luck!

joy - at the speed of light
i've mentioned {possibly a few times} how natalia can be difficult. she's one of those kids who can go from silent to blood-curdling-screams in the speed of light. she rarely starts those screams with whimpers or "fussing", like normal children. for her, it's content to ballistic - nothing in between.
i noticed this morning, though, she does the same thing with laughter. she was happily watching handy manny from her daddy's lap when jim decided to tickle her. silent to full belly laughter - at the speed of light.
joy. pure and simple.

goldfish and a talia-ism
we gave jameson's two goldfish to his school today. i don't know why, but i'm sad. i realized we never took a photo of them - or him with them. urgh, bad mommy. :{they were technically his first "pet".
we bought them for him after a visit in march to "dr. sprinkles" for a checkup on his seizures. (all was well, and he did good - hence, the fish.)he couldn't care less that they're gone. and, really, i'm glad too, to not have to clean that stinky tank anymore.
but, still. he'll visit them every monday and wednesday when he goes to school, i guess.

and, for a taste of a day in the life of natalia:
talia: drink peeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeeese, drink peeeeeese......
me: TALIA! one second, please!
talia: drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeeese....
me: ok, here you go... {and, hands her a cup}
talia: you're welcome!

jameson's first day at preschool

jameson went to his first day of preschool today. he was pretty excited to go. and, for all of our worries, he was just fine when we left him there. we said goodbye, and he looked a bit concerned for a fleeting second, and then went back to playing.
true to jameson form, he got a "note" sent home with him letting us know that he hurt himself in the bathroom. pinched his arm in the door or something. he was fine...but, wouldn't ya know it?!
natalia was NOT happy that she didn't get to stay and play too:
