joy - at the speed of light

i've mentioned {possibly a few times} how natalia can be difficult. she's one of those kids who can go from silent to blood-curdling-screams in the speed of light. she rarely starts those screams with whimpers or "fussing", like normal children. for her, it's content to ballistic - nothing in between.

i noticed this morning, though, she does the same thing with laughter. she was happily watching handy manny from her daddy's lap when jim decided to tickle her. silent to full belly laughter - at the speed of light.

joy. pure and simple.

goldfish and a talia-ism

we gave jameson's two goldfish to his school today. i don't know why, but i'm sad. i realized we never took a photo of them - or him with them. urgh, bad mommy. :{they were technically his first "pet".

we bought them for him after a visit in march to "dr. sprinkles" for a checkup on his seizures. (all was well, and he did good - hence, the fish.)he couldn't care less that they're gone. and, really, i'm glad too, to not have to clean that stinky tank anymore.

but, still. he'll visit them every monday and wednesday when he goes to school, i guess.

and, for a taste of a day in the life of natalia:

talia: drink peeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeeese, drink peeeeeese......

me: TALIA! one second, please!

talia: drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeese, drink peeeeese....

me: ok, here you go... {and, hands her a cup}

talia: you're welcome!

jameson's first day at preschool

jameson went to his first day of preschool today. he was pretty excited to go. and, for all of our worries, he was just fine when we left him there. we said goodbye, and he looked a bit concerned for a fleeting second, and then went back to playing.
true to jameson form, he got a "note" sent home with him letting us know that he hurt himself in the bathroom. pinched his arm in the door or something. he was fine...but, wouldn't ya know it?!

natalia was NOT happy that she didn't get to stay and play too:

sometimes...

a new, funny conversation with jameson:

me: do you like daddy?
j: yes!
me: do you like mommy?
j: yes!
me: do you like grandma?
j: yes!

etc, etc, through most family members, including pets, of course...

me: do you like natalia?
j: -after a long ponder- mmmmmm, sometimes baby bites.

and...that, folks, is the only response he ever has for her. :P

sickies

we returned saturday afternoon from a pleasant jaunt to the trailer. i think both kids (and jim and i) were happy to be home, but had a nice time too.

unfortunately, both natalia and jameson are now sick. just head cold, snotty-type sick, but it still sucks. especially since when natalia get's a snot-nose, she swallows most of it. which means she PUKES it back up. >:{ and, conveniently, she waits til she goes to bed to start puking. so far tonite, we've had two puke-incidents to clean up. i anticipate more.

last night, jameson decided 3am would be a fantastic time to "blow bubbles, mommy?". gah. it took til 4:30am to convince him that it was still night time and NOT time for playing. oh, AND, yes, he's still sick too. don't normal people SLEEP more when they're sick. gah.

today, they both had checkups with dr. beth. both are doing great. jameson weighs in at 34.3lbs and is 38.5 inches tall. natalia is 27.5lbs and 34.5 inchest tall. dr. beth was impressed that jameson knows his full name, street name, and house number. good boy!

mommy's tired from our bubble-escapade of last evening, so "night-night all". :)
